Mekanarky Studios was created out of necessity!
Two years ago a group of ten artists were pushed to the city limits by over zealous real estate developers.
In the search for affordable workshop space they discovered the old Streets Ice Cream factory in Turrella.
The vision of creating an active artist workshop space is now a reality. Mekanarky houses around 25 emerging and established Sydney artists.

The facilities available include, Recording studio, Gallery space, Performance Space, Printmaking, Metal & Wood Workshops, Costumes, Jewellery & Body Art, Film Making, Animation & Multimedia, Painting, Sculpture & Airbrushing, Sound & Lighting Technicians & Designers.

Mekanarky artists are frequently hired on outside projects for film, television and theatre. As well as diverse individual & collective projects that go on within Mekanarky.
Not only a successful art studio collective, the space is constantly evolving.

Over the last two years Mekanarky has become an effective platform for artists of all disciplines to network, produce and exhibit.
